I have had the opportunity to see many beaches from North America to South America and in between. I am featuring some of the most beautiful beaches in this hemisphere. Beginning with the Dominican Republic where I spent 3 years, where I will show you the best beaches on the island.. The Dominican Republic has some of the most stunning beaches that you will ever see. I have travelled along the coast of the Dominican Republic, and remember driving for miles, and only seeing white sand and coconut palms. There are so many private and public beaches on that island that one could spend the rest your life exploring them. I will be presenting many pictures, in order to show you the beauty of each area.

The first location in the Dominican Republic that has some amazing beaches, is Punta Cana. The beach that I am featuring first is in Bavaro in Punta Cana. This beach is in front of a hotel that used to be owned by the Breezes Hotel chain. I took this picture from the balcony where I was staying. This beach has sand like white powder and beautiful coconut palms swaying in the breeze.

The next stop is Las Galeras. From Punta Cana you need to take a small plane to Samana, and a taxi to Las Galeras. If you want to drive there from Punta Cana, you have to return to Santo Domingo and then travel back north to Las Galeras. I have a few Pictures that I took along the same stretch of shore. This area is very sparsely populated. There are few homes and a couple of small hotels. The town of Las Galeras consists of a four corners but it has some stellar beaches.

Very close to Las Galeras, and only accessible by boat is a beach called Playa Rincon. Playa Rincon is the most pristine beach that I have ever seen. The sand was like white powder and the water was a gorgeous crystal clear turquoise color, and it was deserted. I only spent six hours on this beach because we had to catch a boat back to town, but they were the most heavenly six hours of my beach viewing life.

Before leaving the Samana peninsula where Las Galeras is located, travel South to the Bahia de Samana. In the middle of this beautiful bay is National Park called Caya Levantado. Caya Levantado is a small island that is a beauty. See for yourself in my pictures.

Puerta Plata is another city on the north shore of the Dominican Republic. It is a popular tourist destination. I took these next pictures along the coast at Puerta Plata. The beaches there are more rugged but they are still beautiful. The last picture is taken in a small city called Cabarette, which is right next to Puerta Plata.

It is time to move on to South America where there are some awesome beaches. Our first stop will be a small island that belongs to Colombia called San Andres. This is probably the hottest tourist destination for people living in the Northern part of South America. It is also an international hot spot. I am including pictures of the beaches on both islands. Providencia is the other island that is part of the San Andres archipelago, and is very beautiful too.

As we go down to Colombia we discover a group of beaches in the Tayrona National Park that is part of Santa Marta. These beaches in the Tayrona National Park are only accessible by boat or by trekking thru the park. These beaches have some of the most impressive rock formations of any beaches in South America.

If you travel along the shore you will soon arrive in Cartagena, where there are plenty of beaches, but the beach that I want to draw attention to is called Playa Blanca. Playa Blanca is on a small island called Isla de Baru, which is a short boat ride from Cartagena.

The last beach that I am featuring is a beach on the Pacific coast of Colombia. It is called Juanchaco y Ladrilleros. I am featuring this beach for its uniqueness. The sand is grey and there are some very interesting caves and rock formations along the coast. It is far from luxurious because it is in a remote location on a costal strip of Colombia. You have to travel to Buenaventura and then take a launch to Juanchaco. I found this beach to be a very relaxing and a different type of beach adventure.

All of the beaches that I have featured in this article are beautiful and they are in locations, except for Punta Cana, where you do not have to spend much money to enjoy them. Life is a beach.

If you have time, you must see this entire video, if not, return later and see it. It is in Spanish but that does not make any difference in this case because it is very easy to follow.

A trek thru the Tayrona National Park to the beaches.

Thank you for taking the time to read my article. Chao.
